Terms and privacy

One account belongs to one person. You are responsible for what runs under it, and for keeping the sign-in you used to open it. Opening an account means you accept what is on this page.

Machines run on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure under our accounts. You may run any lawful workload on them. We may stop a machine that puts the underlying cloud account at risk, which means:

• Anything unlawful where the machine runs
• Reaching into systems or networks you were not given
• Serving malware, or using a machine to attack another
• Mining cryptocurrency
• Loads that get the cloud account itself suspended
• Work that breaks somebody else's licence or copyright

A machine is charged for the hours it runs, taken from the balance on your account. Credit is bought in advance and is not refundable. A machine that cannot be paid for is stopped, and a machine left stopped long enough is reclaimed — we warn you before either happens.

You can stop and delete your machines at any time, and stopping is enough to stop the charges. We can close an account that goes unpaid or is used to break these terms.

Only what it takes to run the account and bill it correctly:

• Your email address and the name from your sign-in
• The machines you have run and their settings
• The hours those machines ran
• The charges and top-ups on your balance

We do not read what runs on your machines, and we do not store a password for you — signing in goes through Google, GitHub or LinkedIn, and your card is handled by the payment provider, never by us.

The cloud that hosts a machine sees the machine, and the payment provider sees the payment. Nobody else is given your data, and we do not sell it.

Write to us and we will send you what is held under your account, or delete it once the machines under it are gone. Some billing records are kept as long as the law requires.

We can change this page. The date at the top says when it last changed, and we will say so in the app when a change matters. Carrying on using the account after that means you accept it.
